Keys to a successful web site for Realtors and Home Builders
Many Realtors and home builders still fail to take advantage of potential the web offers. Even those that have a web site often ignore many elements that could help close a sale.
Like most web sites, Realtors and contractors ignore the central criteria for search engine optimization. They don't look into what keywords their prospects are using. And they don't properly develop links to their site which could further increase their rankings.
When it comes to the selling of homes, however, there are other factors that are just as crucial for a successful web site. Here are five common mistakes made by Realtors and contractors:
- They fail to develop their background. This includes not just a detailed biography, but also what sets them apart from their competition. For a Realtor this could be their ability to sell homes quickly and at top value. Or for a contractor, it could be the attention to detail which results in breathtaking homes.
- They don't offer proof of this success. The best way is to offer testimonials from satisfied clients. These testimonials work best if the full names of the individual are included and work even better if there is a photograph.
- Not enough photographs are included. If you're selling a home, how much does it take to use a digital camera to photograph a home from a number of angles? The same for a contractor who is attempting to show off their work. Studies have shown that by having as many as six photographs of a home will generate six times as more leads. And for a contractor, a shot of a homes exterior is nice. Including photographs that show the handiwork of the cabinetry, or the unique features of a Great Room, will have a greater impact on someone needing a home built.
- Emphasize the neighborhood. If you're selling a $200,000.00 home chances are prospects want to know about its location. Instead Realtors focus on the home dimensions and the number of bathrooms. Write about the beautiful surroundings its located in, the nearby schools, parks, etc. Likewise many home builders have real estate development properties. If the home is near a golf course, or if the development monitors the homes being built, talk about this.
- Anticipate any and all questions a prospect might have. If you've been selling homes for any period of time, or building custom homes, chances are you've been asked a number of questions. Answer these questions on your site. The more information you have the more prospects will have confidence in your ability.
